Burns in EdinburghAt this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival, EWH and Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature are again joining forces to look at how the city’s built and literary heritage are linked.

In 1786 Robert Burns came to Edinburgh and was swept up in its literary scene, this ‘heaven sent ploughman’ was soon being hailed as a success.
Discover more about the life of Scotland’s national Bard, the Edinburgh he lived in and how both the city and its writers have been influenced and inspired by his poetry.
Edinburgh’s Makar Ron Butlin will be joined by guests including author and director of the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Donald Smith, Professor David Purdie and Lorna Irvine of the Scottish Poetry Library, this year celebrating its 25th birthday.
