Capital Collections

The Capital Collections website gives on-line access for the first time to the rare archives of the Edinburgh Room.

In 2006 EWH awarded a grant of £18,000 to help digitise some of the 60,000 documents, maps, prints, newspapers and publications in the collection. Among the features of the new website is an on-line exhibition, illustrating the key features of the Old and New Towns World Heritage Site.

Highlights of the collection include photographic surveys from the 1850’s to the early 1900's, which provide a haunting snapshot of areas such as the Cowgate.
