Charlotte Square Gardens

The architecture of Charlotte Square is widely appreciated, but the garden setting is also an important element making the square a masterpiece of urban design.

EWH has commissioned Land Use Consultants to research the history of the gardens, to assess the significance and review their condition. The idea is to use the research to help plan possible future improvements to the gardens, railings, roads and paving of Charlotte Square.

David McDonald, World Heritage Site Project Manager said: “The gardens are very much part of the architectural setting of the square as a whole, and the way they are presented could be improved.  The first step though is to make sure we fully understand the significance of what survives.”
