Well Court - the finishing touch The project to restore the category A listed Well Court in the Dean Village is now nearing completion, but there remains one final area to be completed which could be the crowning glory of the project.
The four clockfaces on the tower are all in dire need of re-gilding, and Edinburgh World Heritage has launched a fundraising appeal to find the funds needed to complete the work.
The ornamental weathercock has already been gilded thanks to a generous donation from the Inches Carr Trust.
The details are all part of the original design by Edinburgh architect Sydney Mitchell, and form one of the most striking elements of the building, adding enormously to the building’s picturesque visual appeal.
The restoration is a unique story where the successful collaboration of 55 owners with Edinburgh World Heritage has enabled this architectural gem in the heart of the World Heritage Site, to be restored for future generations to enjoy.
