Well Court clocks on The final set of restored clock faces have been installed on Well Court’s tower, in a delicate operation with the help of bosun’s chair.
The faces are Employees of Ritchie’s Clockmakers gently lowers the clock face into position and fixes it in place.
The clock faces have been restored and re-gilded thanks to kind donations from the Inches Carr Trust, the Blythe Family Trust and Ritchie’s Clockmakers.
The installation of the clock faces was the final part of an extensive restoration project costing £1.6 million, which started in February 2007. Repairs have been carried out to the stonework, roofs, windows and public areas of the building.
The clock faces are delivered and given a final polish, before being lifted up to the top of the tower ready for being fixed into place.
The final moments of the Well Court project, which has ensured the survival of this distinctive building for future generations.
