Atlas World Heritage

Putting People at the Heart of Heritage

Over the past three years, Edinburgh World Heritage has worked together with World Heritage Sites in Porto, Bordeaux, Florence and Santiago de Compostela as part of the Atlas.WH project, to stimulate heritage-led economic and cultural development.

In celebration of our shared approach to managing heritage, and to mark the Week of World Heritage Sites (12 – 19 April 2021), Edinburgh World Heritage has launched a new online exhibition which will explore how these five cities have tackled common heritage challenges.

Edinburgh World Heritage also hosted a series of free online events, bringing together leading experts to explore the role of heritage in solving issues related to the climate emergency, as well as a new online training course ‘Managing Heritage in a Changing World‘ to inform your thinking about heritage and maximise the wider benefits it can bring to city management.

ABOUT US

We connect people to their heritage.

Edinburgh World Heritage is an independent charity that aims to ensure the city’s World Heritage status benefits everyone. We want to connect people to their heritage in everything we do – through the conservation of historic buildings, delivering improvements to public places, or engaging people directly through education.
