Is My Property Listed

World Heritage Site status does not bring any extra controls, it is protected by identifying listed buildings and conservation areas.

So if you live in the Old or New Town you may need permission to make exterior or interior changes to your building.

Conservation areas - protect the historic character of an area. Not only buildings, but also features such as trees, parks, paving and street furniture... Read more

  • All the World Heritage Site is protected by the Old Town, New Town, Dean Village and West End Conservation Areas.
