World Heritage Exchange

A collaborative project with the Warsaw School of Economics is being planned.

Feb 25, 2011

EWH was visited by representatives of the Warsaw School of Economics on February 10, to discuss a joint application to the Leonardo da Vinci Fund.

Professor Marek Bryx and Dr Aleskandra Jadach-Sepiolo spent three days visiting Edinburgh World Heritage and a series of city stakeholders to gain an understanding of how the World Heritage Site is managed.

The idea is to set up a programme of visits between EWH, Warsaw School of Economics and the Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency. The intention is to learn from each others good practice with the ultimate aim of compiling a manual for World Heritage Site managers and students. An important part of the manual will be to develop a mechanism for calculating the added economic value of investment in built heritage.

An announcement on the application is expected in June. If successful the two year project aims to start in August 2011, with Professor Bryx and Dr Jadach – Sepiolo spending a month studying in Edinburgh.
