EWH Annual Review 2010-11

EWH's Annual Review highlights our work in conserving, promoting and enhancing the World Heritage Site.

Nov 30, 2011

Through the year EWH awarded £722,762 to conservation projects in the World Heritage Site. This initial public investment acts as a catalyst for levering in funds from other sources such as property owners, donations, grants and sponsorship. In 2010-11 this amounted to an extra £3.9 million spent conserving the World Heritage Site. In other words:

For every £1 we receive from the City of Edinburgh Council and Historic Scotland we lever in over £5 from private sources.

Key achievements include:

Restoration of the Charles II statue
Auld Reekie learning campaign
Energy Efficiency project
Conservation of statues in Princes Street Gardens
Conservation of the Scotsman Steps

Edinburgh World Heritage is grateful to the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government through Historic Scotland for their ongoing support, and to those private donors who have also supported our projects throughout the year.
