World Heritage Day 2016

Join with us on Twitter and Facebook on 17 & 18 April to celebrate World Heritage Day and share stories of the historic buildings in the World Heritage Site.

World Heritage Day is celebrated around the globe, to raise awareness of the diversity of cultural heritage and the 1007 places listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

For our event we are delighted to welcome Alexander Stoddart, Her Majesty's Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland, who will talk about his personal views on the statues of Edinburgh's World Heritage Site.

6.00pm - 7.00pm Speakers: Adam Wilkinson, Director of Edinburgh World Heritage, and Alexander Stoddart, Her Majesty's Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland. Lecture Theatre 183, Old College.

Alexander Stoddart
Alexander Stoddart has been Her Majesty's Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland since 2008. He works primarily on figuartive scultpture in clay within the neo-classical tradition. He is perhaps best known for his civic monuments, including the statues of David Hume, Adam Smith and James Clerk Maxwell. His statue of the architect William Playfair will be unveiled on Chambers Street this year.
