Edinburgh Food Heritage Trail - Teachers Resource

Use this resource to help you explore the hidden links between the Old Town's built heritage and its food traditions.

The resource offers a self-guided trail down the Royal Mile, highlighting locations with a connection to the city's culinary past. For each location there is a section of information on its food connections, along with questions to pose pupils and start discussion. There are also a series of suggested activities for back in the classroom.

This resource looks at the changes to our diet throughout history, the links between food and the Old Town’s historic buildings, and poses questions about the food we eat today and its sustainability.

Curriculum areas covered: Health & Wellbeing, Social Studies, Technologies.
