Royal Institution

A view drawn around 1820, looking from the New Town with the Old Town skyline in the background.

The Royal Institution is now known as the Royal Scottish Academy, but its imposing classical architecture is still landmark of the New Town. The print clearly shows the contrasting style of the tall Old Town tenements in the background.
