New Town House - Great King Street

A typical New Town house with classically inspired architecture.

This house in Great King Street shows features common to many New Town buildings. Note the railings at the front, the fanlight over the door, and the carved stone details inspired by classical architecture. Like all New Town houses this is built of Craigleith sandstone, with a 'rusticated' finish on the ground floor and smoother 'ashlar' on the upper floors.
