The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh
This teaching sequence will help children understand the development of the Old Town of Edinburgh and the issues and initiatives that led to the creation of the New Town.
They will also explore what happened to the Old Town after the construction of the New Town.
The whiteboard activities use an extensive range of sources that include old maps, prints photographs and documents. These, and others, can be found in the Resources Gallery for independent use.
A series of short 'Edinburgh visit activities' will help teachers explore the city’s history when making a visit.
